Three more Las Vegas Strip casinos are opening their poker rooms Thursday, giving poker players seven rooms to choose from in the entire city and four on the Las Vegas Strip.
Sahara, Caesars Palace, and Bellagio all announced that their poker rooms would open. They join Venetian, South Point, Golden Nugget, and The Orleans as the only poker rooms currently operating in Las Vegas.
Sahara will open its room at 6 p.m. and will run its games five-handed with a $4 max rake, according to Sahara’s poker operations manager Steven Pique. The room will reinstate free drinks and comps, as well as progressive high hand promos. Initially, the room will only operate between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m.
Caesars Palace opened its room at 10 a.m. and will also close operations at 2 a.m. It will run five-handed games and in accordance with the Nevada Gaming Control Board’s newest safety protocols, masks will be required for all players. Initially, the room will only operate Thursday through Sunday, according to Caesars Entertainment’s Director of Public Relations, Chelsea Ryder.
Bellagio opened its room Thursday morning and will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Of the seven available Las Vegas poker rooms, only Bellagio and South Point are open at all hours of the day.
Unlike the other rooms, however, Bellagio was cleared to spread six-handed games and will be using plexiglass dividers to separate players and dealers, similar those used by the Seminole Hard Rock properties in Florida. It is not confirmed that the dividers were the reason for six-handed approval.

To continue social distancing efforts, Bellagio will only use 23 of its 36 poker tables. At the time of writing, there are seven games running, spanning from $1-$3 to $5-$10 no-limit hold’em and one game of $20-$40 limit hold’em. Caesars is currently spreading five $1-$2 no-limit hold’em games.

There is always a cash game running at the 24-hour South Point poker room. Like most Las Vegas casinos, no limit Hold’em is the game of choice. The typical limits are 1/2, 2/3 and 3/5. The minimum buy-in minimum is 100 times the small blind.
The most popular fixed limit is 4/8, though you may find a 3/6 or 6/12 game. A pot limit Omaha or mixed game may pop up when there are enough players.

There are four daily poker tournaments at South Point. All are no limit Texas Hold’em except for an Omaha hi/lo event twice a week. Each has a guaranteed prize pool. Here is the schedule:
- 10am and 10pm daily: $60 no limit Texas Hold’em with a $3,000 (10am) and $1,500 (10pm) guarantee. The prize pool receives $45 with $7 to the house, $6 to staff and $2 to the promotion fund.
- 2pm except Tuesday and Thursday: $60 no limit Texas Hold’em tournament with a $1,500 guarantee. The prize pool receives $45 with $7 to the house, $6 to staff and $2 to the promotion fund.
- 2pm on Tuesday and Thursday: $60 fixed limit Omaha hi/lo with $1,500 guaranteed. The prize pool receives $45 with $7 to the house, $6 to staff and $2 to the promotion fund.
- 6pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday: $60 no limit Texas Hold’em tournament with $3,000 guaranteed. The prize pool receives $45 with $7 to the house, $6 to staff and $2 to the promotion fund.
- 6pm on Monday and Friday: $130 no limit Texas Hold’em deep stack with a $10,000 guarantee.
- 6pm on Wednesday and Sunday: $130 no limit Texas Hold’em deep stack with a $15,000 guarantee.

There are many promotions at South Point. There is a poker rate for giving four hours of action in a day.
Players Poker Room Southern
There is a $100 payout for quads, $250 for straight flushes and $599 for royal flushes. Players must use both hole cards in any South Point poker promotion. Four of a kind bonuses require a pocket pair.
There is a $250,000 Winter Freeroll. Players that clock in 150 hours at a cash game through March 31 get a ticket. There are bonus hours throughout the day. The starting stack is 10,000 chips. A $25 add-on receives another 10,000 chips. Play 250 hours through March 31 and receive 20,000 bonus chips. All players that qualify receive at least $150.
Hearts are the flush rush every Monday and Wednesday in March. Make an ace high flush with the ace in the hand and win $100. If it is the ace and king of hearts, the player wins $500. A heart straight flush using both cards wins $1,000. Make a heart royal flush using both hole cards and take home $2,500. A Friday fully loaded flush promotion pays at least $1,000 when the player makes a seven-card flush in Texas Hold’em.
Hot Card Daze is offered on Tuesdays and Thursday in March. A card is chosen each day. If you flop a set of that card, you win $100. Flopping a full house is worth $400, while making one by the river is worth $200. Quads of the card of the day pay $500 if made by the end of the hand and $1,000 if flopped.
A $2 jackpot drop is used to fund these promotions. The first dollar is dropped at $10. The second is taken at $50.
